Great Ideas Are Sparked by TV and Cabin Fever

Have you ever seen the episode of The Office where Pam, Toby, and Oscar have their own Finer Things Club? They spend their breaks eating ethnic foods, discussing classic novels, and trying to get rid of Andy, who is constantly inventing new methods of trying to get in the club. Danielle and I have been inspired by this episode and encouraged by the eternal snow that has plagued Marysville since we flew home for Christmas two weeks ago. Every activity we had planned on attending has been cancelled, half the town has been shutting down before sunset, and all my plans for the break remain unrealized. The snow was fun at first, but building snowmen nativity scenes and slowly sledding down a hill that wasn't as slippery as it looked can only keep you entertained for so long. We want to go shopping, to the movies, or out to eat! We want to go find classic paperbacks for sixty-nine cents a piece at Goodwill! I want to go to Seattle with my friends! I want to play volleyball at the church! However, I would be happy with anything that gets me out of the house as long as it doesn't involve snow.

Ahem... anyway, Danielle and I have decided to start our own Finer Things Club where we will post, critique, and discuss anything we have found to either improve or otherwise affect the quality of our lives. Please enjoy, and feel free to add your own two cents, make suggestions, or whatever!

  1. If I have a nickel to add will you make change, or will you accept two Canadian pennies?
